This
years Mystery is designed to make use of different 6’’ x
6’’ squares. It always seems so much fun to join a
fabricswap, but as the squares arrive in the mailbox, it’s
not so easy to make something out of them. If you don’t
have 6’’ squares or many scraps to choose from, start by
cutting the 6’’x 6’’ fabric squares you’ll need
from 4 different purples (dark), 2 different yellows (light)
and 4 different reds (contrast).

When the Mystery is solved, it’ll measure about 14’’x 26’’.
In the end there will be some leftover blocks. This years Mystery has a bonus part you can choose to solve with these blocks.
Before the clues are to be solved, you’ll need to cut some of your squares. To keep them apart, use labelled envelopes or plasticbags.
For the first clue you’ll need:
12 purple squares 6'' x 6''
4 yellow squares 6'' x 6'', then cut from each 9 squares 1 ¾'' x 1 ¾'', to a total of 36 squares.
For the second clue you’ll need:
9 purple squares 6'' x 6''
Take 3 purple squares and cut from each large square 3 strips 2'' x 6'', to a total of 9 strips.
9 red squares 6'' x 6''
Take 3 red squares and cut from each large square 3 strips 2'' x 6'', to a total of 9 strips.
For the third and last clue you’ll need:
1 yellow square 6'' x 6''
Cut the large square into 9 small squares 1 ¾'' x 1 ¾''.
Blocks from the first and second clue
1 piece 18’’x 32", each of batting and backing
Quilting thread to finish
1 binding, 1 ½'' wide and about 92’’ long
For the bonuspart you’ll need:
4 blocks from clue 2
4 pieces of red, each in a different fabric and about 16’’x 20’’
4 pieces of each batting and backing, about 14’’x 18’’
Quilting thread to finish
4 bindings, each 1 ½'' wide and about 65’’ long
Good luck!
