Mystery .....

Mysteryquilt for Advent and December 2002

Part 3
To solve this third and last part, you will first need the envelopes marked D1 and D2, and then everything you have sewn together up till now.
I hope you have enjoyed the way this mystery had to be solved during the first days of December. Are you pleased with how the finished quilt turned out? I hope so!

Good luck!

D2

  1. You will need the 8 blocks 3''x 5 ½'' from D1 and the yellow pieces form the envelope D2. Save the 2 reminding blue blocks.

  2. Use one blue block and 2 yellow pieces to finish one block.
Mark with a pin the midpoint on one short side of the blue block.

  3. Right sides together, place a yellow rectangle on top of the blue block from the pin and diagonally across to the long side, reaching over the seam between the two 3'' squares

  4.  Following the long side of the yellow rectangle, sew the piece to the blue block with a ¼'' seam.

  5. Open up and press.

  6.  Do the same with the second yellow rectangle, but from the pin and diagonally across to the other long side of the blue block.
The different lengths of the rectangles gives the block an irregular look.

  7. Open up and press.
Sew 7 blocks more; 8 blocks altogether.

E1
  1. You will need 4 blocks from D2 and 2 yellow blocks from C1.

  2. Place the yellow block in the middle of two D2 blocks, the sharp tips pointing outwards from the middle.

  3. Sew the three blocks together making the total of 2 sets.
    ...

  3. Sew the three blocks together making the total of 4 sets.

E3
  1. You will need 1 block from C2 and 2 blocks from D1.
